What can you do?

Be a Shelter Walker

Many great dogs arrive at the Shelter's every day, but have little chance at adoption. Drop by the Shelter and walk the kennels to see which ones might be saved. You can also take pictures for placement on  rescue Web sites

Be a Transporter

Helping with transport can involve taking a dog to the vet for medical treatment, or delivering a dog to a foster home, or delivering a dog to its new adoptive family. We have adoptive families all over New Mexico and occasionally in neighboring states. If you like to take road trips, or periodically go out of state, you could make the adoption happen.

Be a Foster Family

Take one of our dogs into your home and help them get socialized while they wait for adoption. You will be responsible for the care and feeding of the dog. Q-H will cover all medical costs. You may get involved in some  training, such as house breaking.

Do the Home Visits

Our volunteers perform a home visit for all adoptions to ensure that the new home is a safe environment for the dog. You'll get training on what the criteria are and how to advise the adoptive family on how to fix potential problems.
